I dislike social media and the hellscape we've created in it's wake... but this movie was so boring and poorly acted. The only redeeming character was the cat. The movie does little to expand on the vapid people (the royal) we've become in the quest for stardom and likes. There are many Black Mirror episodes that masterfully comment on many aspects of what this movie aims for but misses. It's supposed to be meta within meta but it's just insipid. The dialog and plot points are so dull, and made even worse by all of the 'recaps' within the movie. Did i mention i liked the cat? Poor thing, i hope it can still find work after being associated with this movie...
Plot summary
Jess (Dani Barker) has finally found her hook: secretly filming creepy interactions she encounters via online job listings, and using the kinks of others to fuel her streaming success. For her next episode, she's been hired by Tom (Luke Cook) to write the ending of a screenplay in a remote, lavish cabin. Once there, the alluring self-proclaimed screenwriter hands her a script in which the two of them are the main characters. This client isn't what he seems, and even though the money's great... the real payment here could cost her life. Follow Her is a psycho-sexual thriller which questions the ethical boundaries of social media.—Quiver Distribution

boring rewrite of Black Mirror episode
The film highlights the current theme of stress caused by social networks
The film highlights the current theme of stress caused by social networks, bringing a new look and offering new solutions to solve difficult situations in the narrative, with two incredible twists.
Innovative screenplay with convincing lead actors about the dangerous and harmful side of social media. Good soundtrack.
Tommy Wiseau could have directed this !
... except that The Room was at least unintentionally funny as hell. Save for the cat, everything here (the poor acting, embarrassing jokes, dull dialogues, laughable twists, hateful characters) was beyond terrible and the movie seemed to drag for five hours. They obviously tried to show how clever they were with their meta script, but failed dramatically. How on earth was this funded, as we learnt from the director/actress during the introduction speech (at least we got the crew singing a Cheap Trick song before the movie was launched) ? The only thing that could have made this worthy of attention would have been badly made CGI of giant sharks or spiders.
