Fint hair the movie, mostly boring, but I felt like I was watching a foreign movie with a really good dub, i don't know why as it's a US production.
Plot summary
A few years after her mother's passing, 17-year old Tennie's reputation at school takes a major hit before the prom. To further complicate the daily rigors of teenage life, her father, Robert, an advertising executive who has since rebuilt his business, tries to do the same with his relationship with his daughter. Against his therapist's advice, overeager Robert tries really hard to get close to Tennie by showing his own way of caring. He tries to find out about his daughter's personal life with the help of his newly appointed, 19 year-old driver/intern, Jack. Practically being raised by her extended family, Tennie although very academically inclined and mature for her age, with compassion for others, she's got a touch of sarcasm, and a hint of rebelliousness. After she catches on to her father's plan, Tennie realizes that in order to get her father off of her back, she needs to convince him to find a lady friend. She recruits her friends to create an online dating profile in order to introduce her father to potential companions. Little did she know that her father already was seeing someone that he was not yet ready to introduce to her. Things escalate when Robert gets Tennie's friends from school to participate in a focus group for a project, and in retaliation, Tennie throws a party at the house with almost half of the school showing up. A series of hilarious interactions between father and daughter ensues that starts to close the generational gap between them. What finally brings them together is a long overdue heart to heart conversation about past transgressions. One thing becomes certain, they will always have each other.

Feels foreign
Cute story, but not a polished production
Some of the actors were decent and may do well after some more training and experience. Much of the over acting was comparable to a decent school production and the script was a bit tedious at times and repetitive in places. I wouldn't ever call it subtle. With all that said, it was entertaining enough to sit through comfortably for a free watch on YouTube. I enjoyed the POV of a single, minority father raising a teen daughter. I didn't have high expectations, so if you go into it in that frame of mind, you will probably enjoy it. I hope that those involved get a chance to benefit from more experience and film training. It would be nice to see them improve and flourish. I at least got invested enough to feel that!
there are a lot of firstimers on the wide screen.
I shall not blast this movie from wall to wall, because there are some very good acting and pretty high quality production to this flick. the score are also fruitfull and tempting, and so were also some of the actresses. but there are some shadow moments especially near the end that dissapoints a lot. the film is defined as a comedy, and with an uplifting start till halfway the buildup for a superclimax were inevitable, but it all disappeared in the air like a disney figure helium baloon slipping out of the hands of a cranky 5 year old. that is most due to script fatigue and bad direction, and at some extent lack of selfconfidence actingwise.
and here you have the firsttimers. the majority does a reel to reel good job, but the actor behind the ''tennie'' caracter really got some carburator trouble in the final half, the revelation half. or the friend to friend discussion between father and child. the tension in the dialouges between father and daughter fails so badly in its content, power and truthfullness, because the teenager became like a bratchild of wrath, she falls through in lack of confidence and experience ,in gritty emotional cries for help hanging on to the script lines for bare life. from being a lioness of the house and among friends in the first half, she limps like a wounded puppy near the end.
i'm grumpy and im old, and i also adored'' tennies ''aura of beauty, so if shes continues acting i will follow up and watch with interest, just say that talent there are and its a tough learning curve to speak like a lioness faceup with a dad, so let yourself loose, and a final remark to the makers, some retake practice would help alot.
its a 5er for the first half and a good looking cast and score. you should give a look after all, cause it gave me some good laughs initially and its a happy end to it all after all
